Paris Saint-Germain Have Rebuked United’s Initial Approach For Mauricio Pochettino

The Red Devils board are searching for a new manager to take over at the Old Trafford dugout, with former Tottenham boss Pochetttino thought to be the number one target.

But according to SunSport, Paris Saint-Germain have rebuked United’s initial approach, so they will be gathering themselves for a second round of discussions.

Manchester United are not deterred after their initial approach for Mauricio Pochettino was turned down and will reportedly make a second play for the Argentine coach, only in the summer.

United sacked Ole Gunnar Soskjaer following the side’s poor Premier League display against Watford where they lost 4-1 at Vicarage Road.

Former manager and club director Sir Alex Ferguson is a close friend of Pochettino, while reports suggested that the 49-year-old is unhappy with his family living in London while he’s in Paris.

It is thought that Pochettino would relish a chance to take up the reins at the northwest club, despite his recent conference suggesting that he’s happy in the French capital.

The Red Devils released a statement in which they said they will be looking for an interim manager until the conclusion of the season, at which point they will search for someone permanent.

Michael Carrick has been put in temporary charge as caretaker manager and he oversaw a conservative but effective United side beat Villarreal 2-0 in the Champions League to secure a knockout place.

The Geordie will be in place as United then head to Stamford Bridge and for the 4.30 pm kick-off against Premier League leaders Chelsea.
