Pique Will Have Painkillers To Be Available For The Copa Del Rey Final

Like he did for ‘El Clasico’, Gerard Pique will once again have a cortisone injection in his right knee so that he can play in the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao.

He did it for ‘El Clasico’ and it seems like he will do the same for the Copa del Rey final. According to ‘AS’, Gerard Pique could once again take painkillers so he can play against Athletic Bilbao.

Ahead of the huge league match with Real Madrid, the Barcelona central defender had a cortisone injection in his right knee as a temporary solution so he could be available against Barca’s bitter rivals.

However, Ronald Koeman decided to leave him on the bench and the game ended 2-1 for Zidane’s men. He is not guaranteed to play in the cup final though. Pique, will make sure he is available for the selection, nevertheless.

The cited media outlet says that the Barca defender will once again have painkillers this Friday after the late afternoon training session at La Cartuja stadium in Sevilla. He will once again have it 24 hours before the game.

Despite having the injections, it is not good news for the defender because having to resort to this because his knee is obviously not 100%.

Injuries are preventing the 34 year-old defender from getting much game time this term. He has played in 15 competitive matches this season and scored a couple of goals. He has not played since 3rd March in the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg versus Sevilla.
