Messi has so far only played five times for his new club, since signing for them in the summer following the shocking ending to his time at Barcelona.
The six time Ballon d’Or winner, who is favourite to win a seventh, especially after, since rejected, claims of a leak that said he’d already been told he’s this year’s winner, has missed the Ligue 1 club’s previous two games.
Messi missed PSG’s games against RB Leipzig, in the Champions League, and Bordeaux, in the league, in the past couple of weeks due to knee and hamstring pains.
However, on Thursday, Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni revealed that the 34-year-old is due to play in this week’s qualifiers, staring with the game against Uruguay on Friday, which is set to anger his club side according to the Daily Mail.
“In principle, we believe that Leo is good. Leo wants to play and I want him to play.”
That issue is set to anger the former Barca man’s club team, especially with the club’s sporting director Leonardo already revealing his annoyance at the situation.
A report in August claimed that Messi has a clause in his deal at the Parc des Princes that allows him to prioritise the national team.
It means that no matter the situation, the forward will be allowed to leave to join up with Scaloni’s team, for tournaments or for friendlies.
Talking about the problem recently Leonardo said, “We do not agree to let a player go by selection who, for us, is not in physical condition or who is in the rehabilitation phase.
“It is not logical, and these types of situations deserve a real agreement with FIFA.”
Scaloni thinks there won’t be an issue though, and talked about having a good relationship with the Parisiens, “We have a relationship with Leonardo and their [reaction] is understandable,” he added, “that Messi has spent a lot of time with the national team recently.
“But there can be no doubt that we are within the rules calling him up. This has always been a problem for European clubs.”
