The young centre-back has signed for five seasons, until 2026, for 13.5 million euros. He could play a key role in the German side’s return to the Champions League.
Wolfsburg are back in the Champions League for the 2021-22 season and have had to make signings in accordance. Sebastian Bornauw is one of them. He is one of the most exciting centre-backs in the Bundesliga and takes a key step forward in his career in which he will be tested at the highest level.
Wolfsburg have confirmed through their official channels that he has been signed for five seasons, until June 2026, from Köln. Although the payment does not appear in the letter issued, several media such as ‘Bild’ confirmed that the agreement was signed for an amount close to 13.5 million euros.
“Welcome, Sebastiaan Bornauw! The 22-year-old Belgian defender joins Wolfsburg from Köln on a contract until 2026!”, said the tweet published by the club, which included a few emoticons as well as a picture of the defender standing in the team’s jersey.
He has experience at Bundesliga, but at continental level, his CV includes four Europa League appearances in 2018, when he was still with Anderlecht. Wolfsburg looks to be a potential backdrop for further conquests.
